Cloud services, social media platforms, and AI applications have become an integral part of our private lives, our daily work, and democratic discourse. However, this infrastructure is largely controlled by a handful of international tech corporations. Those who store the data, develop the algorithms, and set the rules increasingly influence how we stay informed, form our opinions, and make political decisions.
At the panel discussion organized by AlgorithmWatch CH and the Responsible Digital Society research network at the University of Basel, AI ethicist Dr. Annette Zimmermann, Green Party National Council member Gerhard Andrey, AlgorithmWatch CH Executive Director Dr. Angela Müller, and a representative from the trade association Swico will discuss these issues, moderated by Urs Gredig of SRF: How dependent is Switzerland on global tech corporations, and how can it strengthen its capacity for democratic action?
After the event, you are cordially invited to an apéro.
