SUMMARY:Medical Robotics: Complete digitization is just around the corner
DESCRIPTION:Artificial intelligence is on everyone's lips. But it is still 
 mostly us humans who transfer digital information from the internet or oth
 er sources into the physical world. Robots have the potential to usher in 
 the next industrial revolution. This is possible because robots can implem
 ent processes and information from the digital space in the physical world
  and feed them back into the digital world using sensors and real-time dat
 a processing. Robots can close the digital information cycle. As with any 
 technology\, there are advantages and disadvantages. While some people are
  now worried about their jobs\, we at the BIROMED Lab in the Department of
  Biomedical Engineering at the University of Basel are trying to create ne
 w opportunities for medical staff and the medical industry. My outlook on 
 a future with medical robots is intended to show that closing the digital 
 information cycle from diagnosis to procedure planning to surgery offers g
 reat opportunities. Patients should receive a more predictable outcome\, a
 s the procedure can be performed as planned. After all\, who wants to go t
 hrough a situation with an uncertain outcome? In this presentation\, Prof.
  Rauter will show current projects in rehabilitation robotics\, surgical r
 obotics\, and laboratory automation with the pharmaceutical industry from
